Sept. 9, 2021 – Thursday – Makeda & Mingus Art Show

This morning I got my 5th show for fall! I happened to share my newly launched website with local coffee shop owner Prashanti, and a few days later she asked if I was available. We have been talking about wanting to do this for a while, but with Covid and a booked schedule, on her part, it just didn’t work out. So happy we’re finally going to make it happen. My art will be up for November 2021. And you can find details on my Events page.

Prashanti’s coffee shop, Makeda and Mingus, is in Greenwood on 78th street. It’s a sweet small place with charm to boot! I was once in there sitting at the counter, doodling in my sketchbook and chatting with Prashanti, when some neighborhood kids came in to play Magic at the coffee table, yes really, in the shop. This delighted me to no end. Just to see kids gathering in a local place, so sure of themselves and eager to share their love of their card game. Having this place to come and chill away from their homes, but safe and sound. This is magic.

Back to Makeda and Mingus. So Mingus is Prashanti’s little four legged furry partner, he’s quite cute and really well behaved. He certainly loves his treats, and yet manages to keep a trim figure. How do you do it Mingus?

Prashanti also makes Indian dishes and they’re available to order ahead on Thursdays, check with her to make sure I got that right. She also sells Black Magic macrons…oh man, these are so good! And of course great coffee!!

Other news…still enjoying my fresh garden delights. Today is Scarlet Runner green beans and Blueberries cherry tomatoes. I didn’t notice that when you take off the stem, there’s a little flower, or star, mark there. Nature is the best artist. And of course egg salad on toast. Yum!

What a great little surprise under the stem. A little star.
Look at those fresh beans and tomatoes!
