Nicola Beeson, that’s me!

About Me

I’ve been drawing, coloring and building since I was a kid. I enjoy creating and dabbling in so many different mediums.

1986 I went to Art Institute of Seattle, may it rest in peace. I studied Visual Communications, basically dabbled, again with the dabbling, in many different mediums and learned a lot about graphics. We tried gouche painting, pen drawing, figure drawing, photography, air brush, a variety of art techniques, and production art. I skipped technical drawing because I’d done 4 years of vocation drafting in high school. Thank you Rainier Beach and Mr. Kirihara.

Since graduating I’ve constantly had work doing Production Art. This is the art of preparing files to be printed. I take the work of Art Directors and Designers and make sure it’s going to produce how they want it. This job does call for a good eye for design and a lot of technical ability. So for me this has been a super career. Some artistic eye and a whole heap of technical.

In 1989 I started my jewelry business Agauricus. This is a word my Dad and I built. Ag is Silver, Au is Gold, and Auric is to have gold, Us, well that’s all of Us.
So everyone having silver and gold. This was always my goal. To make high quality jewelry that everyone could afford. Not to mention jewelry that I could, and have, stood behind.

All the while I’ve been creating on the side, sometimes almost full-time. I’ve made jewelry for most of my life. My Dad introduced it to me in high school. And I did a lot of wire work and playing in elementary school making earrings and small beaded items to sell at local friends house craft sales. Well it’s a long story, I’ll share more in my blog as things come up.

Here are some things I’ve made and glimpses of my studios. I’ll add more here as I dig up photos. I might even post a recent art find from first grade!
